TETREVIL
TETREVIL
A game similar to Tetris, except this time the computer hates you.
TETREVIL is my attempt to recreate the unix program “bastet” in Java. Bastard Tetris is a version of Tetris, but which intentionally gives you the worst piece possible. TETREVIL has the same goal, although they almost assuredly don’t work the same way internally. (Among other things, bastet is written in C. Also, I’ve never bothered to view the bastet source.)
TETREVIL looks four moves into the future to decide how to give you the worst piece possible. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to run well (or almost at all!) on netbooks. Maybe some day I’ll translate it to .Net and the toy computers will be able to run it. (hehehe)
I would be honored if people would give it a whirl, and post their high score. In extensive testing (friends on IRC…) the high score was 21 lines. UPDATE: The high score is visible on the app now, and is currently 114 lines! I am amazed at how good some of these players are…
Special thanks to #tetris on irc.quakenet.org for their input.
The source to TETREVIL is available under a BSD-style license. You can check it out using git. The client component is the only component required to play the game itself. The server is used for things like keeping track of high scores.
