So I looked around online, and someone suggested disabling the send PPP echo packets in the PPP tab of the BT VZW advanced network options.

Whereas I used to get disconnected due to inactivity every minute, I was able to sit idly connected to the internet for 10 minutes without a disconnect.</description>
