Well, the Johnson Center internet upgrade is complete. Frankly, I still find it lacking. It is no longer utterly unusable. Now it is merely painfully bad. Response times still suck, and web page loading stalls more often than a whore sucks dick (Yay analogy!). I tried using the JC internet to write this blog post with, but I couldn’t. It sucked too much.
So now, I’m sitting here in Innovation in an empty classroom, 40 minutes before class is due to start. In here, the internet is not half bad. Still not on the same order of magnitude of goodness as what I have at home, but the latency when sending myself an IM is under half a second. Perhaps I shall make a small study of exactly how long it takes to do certain tasks. Repeatedly load google from wget and measure the average response time, for example.
Oh well. I’m blogged out for a bit. Goodbye world.

So, I just got out of my Software Engineering midterm. It was a bit rough. I think the class in general will have a tough time with it, and so I’m not really worried. Plus, I’ve gotten damn good grades on everything else before this.
Still, a bit harder than I originally expected. Lots of drawing diagrams and such.
Oh well.

I ran into Tim Soehnlein (sp?) this evening. We chatted CS stuff. He’s a grad student at mason, married, and employed. Pretty knowledgeable. I like him.
It’s nice to see someone whose computer programming understanding is comperable to my own. Perhaps better.

Soooo…. I have an ear infection in both ears (a big one in the right and a baby one in the left). It hurts and it’s making me nauseated. My car died while I was driving on Fairlakes Parkway today. Yeah, *while* I was driving. Not fun at all, especially because this is the second time in the last week. My car has been out of the shop for 4 days!!! I just had the alternator replaced about 5 days ago and the battery was replaces about 2 weeks before that. My car is cursed and I can’t wait to get rid of it. I’m kind of kicking myself right now because I went to carmax yesterday and was offered $2000 for my current car that was working yesterday and isn’t today. I said no because I figured it’s worth more than that and I still owe $2400 so I wanted to at least break even. Damn. I even really really liked a car there… it was a very very pretty 2004 Honda Civic. Oh well, can’t look at life retrospectively. So my dad’s letting me borrow his car for a couple of days until mine gets fixed… again. I really don’t want to drive that stupid thing ever again. It’s terrifying when your engine dies while in traffic driving…. cars could hit me and it could be really messy. I’m on the hunt for a car and I might try to do some of that haggling thing at a real dealership… My silver lining is a 160GB absolutely freaking amazing new ipod. In silver. =D I’m going to import all of my movies onto it as well as my music and audiobooks. Woooooo.
